Today we learned how to use picasa. I loved this because it is free and easy. I actually understood how to do everything. I think I will be able to go home and make all my pictures look a lot better. This will be a very useful to me and my class.

June 25

Today in class we listened to a few presentations. We also learned a little about powerpoint, and that it is good to have mini lesson to present before you begin teaching. These powerpoints help the students see what we will be doing throughout the lesson, what it is about, and the order that things will go in. It is also helpful for the parents of our students to look at and see what their children are learning.

Presentations

I really enjoyed the presentations today, and hearing all the different ideas about technology in todays school progams. I really liked the idea of using new technology for new things. Instead of using a smart board just like it were a regular white board. We should take advantage of all the great and easy stuff technology has to offer the classroom. Using the technology we have can make class go so much more smoothly, and is much less time consuming. We all need more time; so it is good to learn how to use technology whenever we can.

Lesson Plan 1

The lesson plan I chose to do is called the ryhming game. It is for kindergarten level, in the music and language arts area. I got this fun idea from my cousin who is a kindergarten teacher. She got it from a book called Fall Phonemic Awareness, Songs and Rhymes. By: Kimberly Jorgano; and Trisha Callella. This lesson helps your students with rhyming, colors, patterns, and rythm. I have actualy done this lesson with a kindergarten class, and they loved it! We had a lot of fun!

Topic 2 UEN

We learned about the UEN website and all of the great stuff it has to offer teachers. I liked that you can go on there and create your own lesson plan. I think this will be very helpful, and less time consuming. I am glad we have a great website to refer to when we need help. We also learned a little about using the smart board and how helpful it can be in the classroom. I liked this because we as students haven't really got the chance to talk about the smart board, and what advantages it brings to the classroom.

Topic 1 Today's Students

We watched a video in class about today’s students. Watching this was kind of a wakeup call for me. I am not up to date in the technology subject. The movie made me realize how much kids today really use technology and that it is a part of their lives. I know that I need to learn more and participate more with what technology has to offer us. I think students really enjoy when new technology is integrated into the classroom.
